Coaches Corner

Anthony “Tony” Jarvis is the coach responsible for the game day activities of the Barbados Cup.

A graduate of the Barbados Community College with a Degree in Applied Science, he has some 22 years of coaching experience and has served for 16 years with the Barbados Cup.

His wide and varied experiences include FIFA Coca-Cola World Football Development Certificates, a Commonwealth Caribbean Coaching Certificate as well as a CONCACAF Level 1 Coaching Certificate.

Anthony captained the Barbados National Junior Team during its successful 1978-1979 campaign and later progressed to the Senior team until 1983. He represented Barbados at tournaments in St. Lucia and Martinique.

He is by far the most successful domestic coach for the past 50 years. He has coached both Everton and Notre Dame. He has captured seven (7) Premier League titles as well as four (4) Knock-out titles.

On two (2) occasions, he has been voted “Coach of the Year” by both the National Sports Council as well as the Barbados Football Association.

Anthony is available to impart his knowledge to all soccer teams from the recreational to Collegiate during this summer.


Kenville “Cab” Layne has responsibility for the U-17 section of the Barbados Cup.

A graduate of the Barbados Community College, Cab has gained world-wide experience in his 26 years of coaching, 15 of which has been spent with the Barbados Cup.

Coach Layne has attended and successfully completed the Coaches Diploma in Football from the Semmelwki University, Institute of Coaching and Sports Education in Hungary. In addition, he has gained the “A License” in Deutschen Fussball Bund from the University of Leipzig in Germany.

He has served as the National Senior Coach of Barbados from 2001 to 2004 after gaining the English F.A International Coaching License. He remains a member of the F.A. Coaches Association of England and is currently the President of the Barbados Football Coaches Association and the National Coach of the U-17 team.

On the domestic level, he coached the Paradise Football Club from 1992 to 2002 where he won a Premier League Championship, a Knock-out Cup as well as several lower division titles.

Currently he has full responsibility for the Paradise Youth Development Programme.
