Presidents Message
As the Barbados Cup approaches its 23rd annual tournament, the Tournament Director and President, George Las Caris, is reminding coaches that the focus of the tournament is on developing the skills and knowledge of their players.
“Too much emphasis is placed on winning”, especially at the younger age groups. This Tournament should be an experience in team-building, camaraderie, discipline and friendship. Of course, the games should be competitive but the only focus should not be on winning.
We must lose the win at all cost mentally. In many respects, we are all winners for having participated. We must focus more on good play and more importantly fair play.
With teams from throughout the Caribbean participating only one will be crowned the champion in each age division but all will be winners.
Lets play well and play fair for the good of the game.
